ABOUT me
I'm Kim Dung Duong, a photographer working mostly in portrait and documentary. Before this, I spent over ten years as an art director in advertising, with two BA degrees in graphic design and photography along the way. I'm grateful for those years, and for the thoughtful people I worked alongside. That time taught me how to make people look. These days, I'm more interested in what makes them stay.
I've come to believe a photograph is not proof that I was somewhere. It is a record of what stayed with me after I left. So I'm drawn less to spectacle and more to stillness: a face that says something without words, a place that holds more than its surface, a small moment that doesn't ask to be noticed, and lingers anyway.
Having traveled to over fifty countries, I've learned that perspective is rarely singular. The more I see, the less I assume I know. Maybe that is the quiet work of looking: not to collect the world, but to be changed a little by it.
Each photograph here is an attempt to hold one of those moments long enough to understand it. Look closer. There's usually more.
If something here stayed with you, I'd love to stay in touch.
